Cellebrite Pathfinder
Pathfinder is Cellebrite's analytics layer. It takes the output of many extractions and other data sources and lets a case team search, link and visualise them together, on a server the agency controls or in a cloud environment.

What Cellebrite Pathfinder is
A single phone extraction is manageable in Physical Analyzer. A case with twenty devices, call detail records from telecom operators, email dumps and a few cloud returns is not. Pathfinder is built for that scale. Cellebrite says it consolidates evidence from more than thirty kinds of digital source into one environment where investigators, analysts and prosecutors can search across everything, see who contacted whom and lay events out on a map or timeline. Cellebrite deploys it on premises as a virtual machine or physical server, or in the cloud through an AWS virtual private cloud.
The platform uses AI-assisted features for tasks such as media categorisation and entity linking. That is helpful and also where care is needed. A link suggested by analytics is a lead, not a finding. An examiner must trace each important link back to the source record and explain it in plain words before it goes into a report. Pathfinder's Workspace feature was marked Beta on the page checked, which is a reminder that analytics features change quickly.
Primary applications
Where it is used
- Multi-device investigations where several extractions must be analysed together
- Combining call detail records, cloud returns and email with mobile data
- Link analysis to see relationships between people, numbers and accounts
- Media review at scale with categorisation support
- Collaboration between forensic analysts and investigating officers on one case
Who uses it
- Analysts in large police and central agency units
- Prosecution teams working with digital evidence
- Intelligence and defence investigators
- Students of AI-assisted investigation methods
Capabilities and limits
Major capabilities
- Ingestion of mobile extractions, cloud data, call detail records, email and media
- Cross-source search and filtering
- Link, map and timeline visualisations
- AI-assisted media categorisation and entity extraction
- On-premises deployment as a virtual machine or physical server
- Cloud deployment through AWS VPC
- Role-based use by investigators, analysts and prosecutors
Technical limitations
- Analytics output is a lead; each link must be verified against the source before it is reported
- A server-class deployment needs IT support and data protection controls that a small lab may not have
- Cloud deployment raises data residency questions for Indian agencies
- Features such as Workspace were in Beta at the time of checking
